July 2021 Meeting

The July meeting was on Tuesday, the 13th, at 7:00PM on Zoom.

Do you have a special project that you could share with us? We are always looking for presentations about any Lnux related topic. Possibilities:

  • home automation
  • digital photography
  • music creation
  • virtualization
  • games
  • software development
  • AI
  • automotive head units

Please contact Steve Herber if you have a presentation you would like to make to our group.

Here are notes from our July meeting, in no particular order:

Someone was having sound trouble with zoom. An install with the most recent version got their sound back. There was still some problem with a LogitechG Pro headset:

We touched on windows 11, Manjaro printing, which seems to work without much effort, and the trusted platform module, TPM:

We touched on Linux music support again:

Some people upgraded their Linux machines including mint and Debian and one issue was the need to install proprietary drivers for full hardware support:

Steve was using docker in Ubuntu to create a development environment for his day job including images for sqlserver and it seemed to be easier to use than a similar setup in a cloud environment:

We had a quick discussion about upgrading an xfinity router and discovering old Wi-Fi hot spots. Good luck figuring out the new situation.

Finally, John created a very nice prototype BELUG web site which lead to a discussion of the features we might want in a web redesign. Some of them were ease of updates, WordPress for multiple authors, links to Google calendars, resource pages, and possible discussion pages. What features would you want to encourage more people to use BELUG?
